№12 week news recap

Hello everyone! Welcome to my weekly news recap where I bring you the latest insights and updates from the world of data analytics and marketing. I know it can be challenging to stay updated with the latest news, ideas, and discussions in professional areas like digital marketing and data analysis due to workload and the flood of various data sources, influencers, and events. Even AI struggles with this due to hallucinations or the necessity to provide such detailed context that it's easier to do it yourself. Therefore, I apply data analysis methods to gather and analyze data to find gems and get the latest buzz.

Main context ideas to create appiling content:

  • Influence of AI: Both as an improving tool and as a tool that does not perform some tasks very well.
  • Ever-changing world of digital marketing: Constant updates and new features. The focus on incrementality measurement and optimizing advertising spend is crucial for ROI.
  • The human element in marketing and work: Despite the rise of technology, topics like customer engagement, founder experiences, and the importance of a positive and inclusive work environment remain relevant and engaging.
  • Practical insights and actionable advice: The recap includes discussions about common mistakes, free tools, and strategies for success in areas like SEO, PPC, and content marketing, which offer immediate value to readers.

Focus on:

  • Exploring AI to optimize business processes
  • Leveraging new features of ad platforms
  • Thinking beyond trends
  • User experience versus CEO opinion
  • Customers as influencers
  • More work efficiency does not equal more work time

Additionally, there are signals indicating a shift in trends from fully cloud-based data analysis processes to a hybrid model combining cloud and on-premises solutions. It will be interesting to follow this topic and see what developments emerge in the coming weeks.

Google's AI Overviews are terrible at quoting the right sources. The first image is the AI Overview for my query about English speakers in India. The AIO provides an answer of 129 million. But this number is from the 2011 census, so it's 14 years out of date. The second image is from the first organic result below the AI Overview, a Wikipedia page listing countries by English speakers. This page shows the estimated number of English speakers in India is 228 million, nearly twice as many as the AI Overview said. Google's AI Overview contradicts the TOP ORGANIC RESULT on the same search...view post

Meta just released a bunch of new advertising products they'll be announcing at Shoptalk early (see comments) but one I'm very interested in running is the Partnership ads and Advantage+ catalog ads together, as we've seen Partnership and Whitelisting ads do well at driving incremental, particularly well on one of our brands spending over 1mm a month on Meta. Some other highlights you can get more details on below: 1. New generative AI use cases for retail including virtual try-on, background generation for Catalog Ads and more precise text generation. 2. New ad placement in notifications on Facebook. view post

Across industries, the way we work is being reshaped by AI. Find out what’s in store for your business in the year ahead (perhaps implementing a data agent?!) → https://goo.gle/41NwBy1 https://goo.gle/41NwBy1

In our new paper we ran an experiment at Procter and Gamble with 776 experienced professionals solving real business problems. We found that individuals randomly assiged to use AI did as well as a team of two without AI. And AI-augmented teams produced more exceptional solutions. The teams using AI were happier as well. Even more interesting: AI broke down professional silos. R&D people with AI produced more commercial work and commercial people with AI had more technical solutions. The standard model of "AI as productivity tool" may be too limiting. Today’s AI can function as a kind of teammate, offering better performance, expertise sharing, and even positive emotional experiences. This was a massive team effort with work led by Fabrizio Dell'Acqua, Charles Ayoubi, and Karim Lakhani along with Hila Lifshitz, Raffaella Sadun, Lilach M., me and our partners at P&G: Yi Han, Jeff Goldman, Hari Nair and Stewart Taub Subatack about the work here: https://lnkd.in/ehJr8CxM Paper: https://lnkd.in/e-ZGZmW9
